Dr. Jos\u00e9 Rodriguez, Director of the Center for Energy Transition (CTE) at Universidad San Sebastian, was included for the twelfth consecutive year in the 2025 Highly Cited Researchers ranking, a list that recognizes researchers whose scientific production is among the most cited 1% globally in their field, according to the Web of Science database. Currently, Dr. Rodriguez is the only South American researcher with constant presence in this ranking for the last twelve years, which shows the continuing influence of his work in the international field.<\/p>\n
\u201cMore than just a personal recognition, this kind of mention reflects the continuity and impact of the collaborative work we have developed over the last years. Research consists of a collective task that requires perseverance, accuracy, and a deep vocation for knowledge contribution from Chile. His research focuses on power electronics and electromobiliy, specifically on the development of multilevel inverters; in other words, devices that converts continuous current, such as that generated from solar panels, to alternating current. The usage and distribution method is required to efficiently provide electricity to households and industries.<\/p>\n
In one of its most influential publications about the predictive control of multilevel inverters from 2002, it corresponds to one of the most cited research on the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics journal, which demonstrates the relevance of his work. His contributions have helped to enhance the efficiency of industrial applications and systems based on renewable energies (solar, air, tidal energy, and hydroelectricity), by collaborating towards a more sustainable energetic and electric system transition.<\/p>\n
To see a Chilean investigator listed in the classification in the engineering field shows the national potential in applied science.
